  6. About ChangeCase version 1
  7. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  8. The ChangeCase XTension allows QuarkXPress users to change the case of characters in text boxes to either uppercase or lowercase by choosing the appropriate menu item from the Utilities menu.

Selecting a range of text -- including either uppercase or lowercase characters -- and choosing the "Change To Uppercase" menu item from the Utilities menu will change all of the selected characters to their uppercase equivalents. The "Change To Lowercase" option works in the same way except that the characters will be converted to their lowercase equivalents.

PLEASE NOTE: ChangeCase functions completely independent of QuarkXPress's own "All Caps" text style attribute. Text styled as "All Caps" will continue to appear as uppercase regardless of the actual case of the text. The ChangeCase XTension actually changes the characters themselves instead of applying a style to them. This means that changing style sheets will not cause the characters to change from upper- to lowercase etc. Also, text exported using QuarkXPress's "Save Text" function will remain in the case that the ChangeCase XTension set it to.

  14. Hold down the Command and Shift keys when selecting the ChangeCase menu items to modify their keyboard shortcuts.

  28. • ItemStyles -- Create and apply style sheets for page items (i.e. text & pictures boxes & rules).
  29. This XTension works in the same way as style sheets for text but allows you to create and edit styles for page items such as: (Box Color: Black)(Box Shade: 100%)(Box Angle: 0)(Box Skew: 0)(Frame Thick: 3pt)(Pic Color: Black) etc.
  30. Editing a style will update all of the items in the document that have that style applied to them.

  32. • LineCount -- Counts the number of lines and words contained in a text box or linked chain of text boxes that already contain text.
  33. Estimates the number of lines and words that would be required to fill an empty text box or linked chain of text boxes.

  35. • MeasurementsPlus -- Displays in a convenient palette (similar to the Measurements palette), the number of columns, the gutter value and the vertical justification of the active text box. MeasurementsPlus also allows you to set a different text inset for the top, left, bottom and right edges of text boxes via the same palette.

  37. • StoryEditor -- This XTension enables you to edit the text associated with any active text box or linked chain of text boxes without the need to scroll through the document. The text is displayed in a floating, re-sizeable window. The user can choose the font and type size of the text in the editing window.

  39. • OverMatter -- Allows you to see the overmatter associated with a single, unlinked text box or a linked chain of text boxes. The overmatter text is displayed in a floating, re-sizeable window. The text is editable within the floating window. The user can choose the font and type size of the text in the overmatter window.
